Christmas Party, Great Fun
About 60 attended this years Cross Timbers Christmas party at All Saints School in Norman last Friday. It was a great
opportunity for everyone to get to know some new horse people.
We had a fantastic meal, with a huge amount of food. Thanks to all who brought their favorite dish. Fajitas were catered
by Taco Cabana of Norman, thanks to our favorite Manager Sonja for taking such great care of us.
We end the evening with a dirty Santa gift exchange. Did everyone steal the gift they wanted?
Also a very special thanks to Ann Raeside for all her help in procuring the facility, setup and tear down. Thanks again
everyone for coming and helping make this a really fun night.

Early Snowstorm
After weeks of 60's and 70's and a couple days even close to 80 degrees, you knew it was inevitable, cold
weather and snow. We are dealing with a 4 inch snowfall and temperatures in the low 30's this week. This storm
marks the first time since we moved to Norman in 2001 that we actually had to plow snow.
The horses had a nasty night on Thursday, with 30 MPH winds and blizzard conditions, especially since Thursday
morning was 65 degrees. Crazy Oklahoma weather!!
Below is Jordan with his cowboy snowman, the schools were closed both Thursday and Friday, due to icy roads.
Dressage Championships
Congratulations to all who worked so hard this year to qualify and ride in this years Oklahoma Dressage
Championship Show. Cross Timbers riders made up over 1/3 of the total number of rides. This years qualifiers
were, Janel Byrd & Grace, Amy Cameron & Iron Michaele and Jewel, Hailey Howard & Breeze, Barb Koenig & Ed
and Stretch, Jordan Koenig & Harley, Suzannah Lowell & Duke, and Daylan Whittle & Anita. Everyone placed and
did a fantastic job. You all make Barb and Cross Timbers look like a force to reckon with, look out next year, we're
going to be better than ever. Be sure to check out the two photo pages, linked from the photo gallery page.
Ladies meet Clinton
Cindy, Molly, and Barb attended the
Clinton Anderson event at the World
Reining Horse Show at the State
Fairgrounds on Saturday. It appears
they had a great time. Thanks to
Clinton for taking time out to pose with
them for this photo.
Thursday afternoon Tubby Cat
succumbed to his devastating racing
injury and was humanely euthanized. He
developed Laminitis in good front hoof
and was in great pain.
He was only with us for a short time but
hopefully we made a difference in his life.
Tubby was raced for 6 seasons with a record of 55 starts and total winnings of $184,000. Unfortunately when his
ankle began to fail him the joint was "blocked" so he couldn't feel the pain. He ran in claiming races until there was
nothing left of the cartilage in the joint. He was "retired" to a killer sale where we bought him and attempted to rehab
his injury. Unfortunately, he developed Laminitis in his good hoof from bearing the extra weight. Laminitis is
common in horses with catastrophic leg or hoof injuries. Laminitis was a complication with Kentucky Derby winner
Barbaro's recovery and was the cause of Triple Crown Winner Secretariat's death.
Tubby was buried here at the farm.
