Lessons generally run 45 minutes,
some may be longer if the student or horse is having difficulty with a particular movement.
The length of the session is at the trainer's discretion.
Lesson Packages Information

Lesson packages are offered at a reduced rate
in comparison to the single lesson charge.
Payment for the lesson package is due by the
first lesson.

If you do not receive all of your lessons during
the 30 day period of time, the cost will reverts
to the individual lesson fee and the remaining
credit will be applied to the following month
only. No cash refunds.

You may cancel lessons and re-schedule them
only during the current month.
Lesson Cancellations:

24 hour notice is required to cancel a lesson
without penalty.  Cancelled lessons should be
re-scheduled for the current week.  If unable to
makeup a lesson during the week, two lessons
should be scheduled for the following week.

Last minute cancellations and no-shows
will be charged as a lesson and may
not be rescheduled.  

Understanding that emergencies arise, we will
allow two  late cancellations per year without
penalty.  You must call to cancel.

Of course, this does not apply to mutually
agreed upon cancellations due to weather, etc.

Welcome!
Cross Timbers Equestrian Center takes pride in our family oriented atmosphere.
We offer a choice of programs to suit your needs. Whether you are just starting to
ride or are a serious show competitor, we are here for you. You will have the
opportunity to ride one of our well-trained, quality school horses or you may ride
your own horse. The emphasis of our program is to build a solid foundation of basic
horsemanship skills. Our core beliefs are based on classical training methods. You
will enjoy the friendly, safe and supportive environment at Cross Timbers.

Beginning Riders                                                                                            
Prospective students are invited to watch lessons & meet the instructors before
deciding to enroll. Beginners will not only learn to ride, but are taught to handle
horses safely both on and off the ground.  Students are all taught how to groom
their horse, tack up for the lesson, warm up before and cool down after their
lesson, un-tack, and groom again before returning the horse to pasture or stall.
Cross Timber students range in height, age and skill levels. We welcome men,
women, and children ages 8 and up. To participate all riders and/or their guardians
are required to sign a Liability Release form.  

Further Your Knowledge                                               
Do you want to own a horse some day?  We also offer a periodic unmounted
classroom study day to further your knowledge in a particular are of horse care or
stable management.  

Length Of Lesson

What to Wear                                                                                                             
Long pants or breeches must be worn. Riding boots or paddock boots with a 1"
heel and comfortable weather appropriate clothing. Gloves are also recommended
to protect your hands. And Cross Timbers will loan you a riding helmet until you are
certain of your commitment.

Guests                                                                                                                        
If you bring a guest on to the premises, please advise the manager or trainer. All
guests must fill out the appropriate release forms. ALL GUESTS UNDER 18 YEARS
OF AGE MUST HAVE A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN SIGN A RELEASE FORM
BEFORE THEY COME TO VISIT. Release forms are available in the office and on
the website. It is your responsibility to assure that the guest is aware of all barn
rules.  
***Please DON’T feed the horses, some horses can’t tell the difference between
fingers and treats.
     
Guest Footwear                                                                                                   
NO flip flops, sandals or open toe shoes.  No bare feet are allowed, please keep
shoes on your feet. Serious injury can result if a horse steps on a bare, exposed
foot.  We require that all guest wear appropriate foot wear in the barn and arena
areas.   

Cell Phone Ringers, Car Alarm and Horns
All cell phone ringers must be turned off when near the barns and arenas. Any
phone conversations should be kept out of the arena area to cause less
distractions for riders. Please no active car alarms or horn honking.

Children
Small children MUST be attended and supervised by parent or suitable guardian
AT ALL TIMES while on the property. Junior riders (under 18)must be accompanied
by a parent or legal adult guardian in the hours when staff is not on duty. Juniors in
the lesson program must be picked up within 30 minutes after the end of the
lesson, unless the instructor has been notified of a later pick up. It is the duty of the
parents to see that their children conduct themselves in an orderly and mannerly
fashion while on the premises.

Fencing

      Riding Lessons Information       

It is our responsibly to provide a safe environment for all of
our participants. Occasionally our staff may be called upon to
make a decision that may disappoint a participant by denying
that person a ride or ability to handle a horse. Such decisions
will be made maturely and with out malice.
