About our trainers...
Barbara Koenig, Owner & Trainer
Barb's riding background is in dressage and Hunter
Jumper. Much of her experience comes from years of
training with an instructor from the Spanish Riding
School in Vienna Austria.
She combines this background with the Centered
Riding cross discipline basics to produce balanced,
confident riders that know how to read the horse to
judge the quality of their riding.
Barb is a true believer in equitation and specializes in
helping people achieve the effortless grace that only
comes out of having a great seat. She combines a
natural, horse-friendly approach to riding as well as
traditional methods of teaching/riding.
She believes that EVERY person and EVERY horse
can achieve any goal if they have the right foundation
to build on, and she tries her best to always support
the horse/rider team towards whatever goal they're
trying to reach.
About our Facility
Cross Timbers Equestrian Center was created in 2003 when
we discovered a demand for a quality Dressage and Jumping
Training Facility in the Norman, Oklahoma area.
Understanding "Oklahoma Weather", the first thing we built
was our 100' by 150' covered arena. This building allows you
to ride in the rain without getting wet and in the heat of the
summer, in the shade.
The Outdoor arena is 100' X 200' is mainly used as a jumping
arena, but can also be used as a full size dressage arena. We
have 22 stalls and many paddocks and pastures of various
sizes, some with loafing sheds.
Our fencing is horse friendly and very safe. It consists of 5'
PVC plastic posts with caps and polybraid electric rope.
The main barn has eight fully matted stalls. The aisle is also
completely matted for safety.
