Cross Timbers News & Events
April 2006
Welcome to the inaugural April issue of the Cross Timbers News page.  Hopefully I'll have time to
keep it up-to-date.  We will post new news and events from around the barn as well as shows we
will be attending and ride times, etc.
Dreyfus 2001-2006
I'm sure most of you
have had the opportunity
to meet
Dreyfus over the
past few years he's lived
here at Cross Timbers.
He passed away last
week, we were all
devastated here at the
farm.  To Will, his owner,
I speak on behalf of
everyone here, we are
truly sorry for your loss
and will never forget him.

New Faces

As many of you may have noticed we have
some new faces around Cross Timbers.
We want to welcome several new boarders
this month.  You've probably noticed as
very flash Leopard Appaloosa, this is
Duke, he and his pasture bud Phoenix, the
Red Roan Paint, belong to
Susannah
Lowell
.  Also coming in with Duke and
Phoenix is
Deva, she is a Bay Appendix QH
and she belongs to
Peyton Shockey.  We
also welcome
Mollie a Bay Appaloosa, and
Sarah Migliaccio.  We also welcome
Nicky, a Dark Bay TB, he is owned by
Deborah VanWye & Rachael Barton. And
finally we welcome
Cynthia Jones and Rio.
They are moving to Oklahoma from
California and will move in around May
1st.  If you haven't met someone please
say "HI!".
Off to Rolex

Barb and Robin Brookins are having a great
"mini-vacation" this week at the Rolex Kentucky Three
Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.
They are spending time watching the competition,
working the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation booth,
and touring many of the famous Farms.  Thursday night
the spent the evening on foal watch at
Claiborne Farm,
home of many great race horses like Bold Ruler,
Secretariat, Mr. Prospector, and Unbridled.
New Students

We have many new lesson students join
us in the last few months.  Welcome to
Peyton Shockey, Susannah Lowell,
Elise O'Loughlin, Leah Badalich, Leanne
Chapin.
Farrier Services

We have let Rick go as a farrier here at the
farm.  We have been experiencing some
workmanship issues and have parted ways.
We are interviewing several new prospects
and will have a new shoer soon.  Loncie
Tucker is still our specialty shoer.
Super Scores

Congratulations to Daylan Whittle &
Anita and Janel Byrd & Grace who both
did a great job on young horses at the
Dressage Show at
 Easy J Stables on
Saturday and Sunday the 1st and 2nd.
Way to go Team Cross Timbers!!
ODS Holds Prep Clinic

Three CT students attended the annual ODS Spring Show Prep
Clinic in Shawnee last month,
Hailey Howard, Daylan Whittle, and
Janel Byrd.  They learned and brushed up on show preparation
for both horse and rider.  They practiced braiding, took a lesson,
and rode a scored test at the end.  This was
Hailey's first time in
the show ring, she and
Breeze received a 68% on their Intro A
test.  Awesome!!
Great Turnout for Tack

About 16 people turned out Sunday March
26th for our bi-annual tack cleaning
extravaganza.  It's always a great time with
Pizza and Soda for lunch.  Be sure to keep
an eye on the news for the next one this fall.
